“Reading Ephesians through Acts”

Dr. Thomas Winger placed the letter to the Ephesians into its context in Paul’s ministry. This involves learning to hear the letter as pastoral proclamation from the apostle to his flock, addressing the problems that arose in this fledgling Jewish-Gentile mission over the matters of Christian unity, Holy Baptism, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the demonic threat in a pagan environment. We will have the opportunity to delve in great exegetical detail into key texts in the epistle, including salvation by grace (ch. 2), the office of the ministry (chs 3-4), and holy marriage as a type of the Gospel (ch. 5). There will be lots of opportunity for discussion about this richly ecclesiological and sacramental text.”
