Tuesday of Holy Week

Today’s Reading: John 12:23-50

“Jesus said, ‘the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified’” – John 12:23-50

The cross looms on the horizon. The nail and the spear are waiting for Jesus and He is on His way to meet them. It is time for Jesus to suffer, bleed, and die and that is why Jesus says, “the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.”

The cross, the nail, and the spear have all been prearranged for Jesus. It has been planned in advance and now the hour has come. God’s plan is on schedule and Jesus is ready.

Jesus goes to the cross for you. His head is crowned for you. His hands are pierced for you. His blood is shed for you and this is glorious. It is glorious because all that Jesus endures, He endures for you. It is glorious because everything that Jesus suffers, He suffers for you.

The hour of Jesus’ suffering is the hour of your salvation. The hour of Jesus’ death is the hour of your deliverance. The hour that Jesus goes to the cross is a glorious hour, because Jesus goes to the cross for you. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer: Glory be to Jesus, Who in bitter pains Poured for me the lifeblood From His sacred veins! (Glory Be to Jesus, LSB 433:1).
